Schedule Changes

Student schedules are created each year with input from students and families to support student academic success and future educational and career goals. Staying enrolled in the same course for the entire school year ensures a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter, continuity of curriculum and stability.

Schedule changes may be considered under the following circumstances during the first week of the school year:

  • A class is needed for graduation
  • Approved level change (Math and World Language)
  • Move to/from AP/Honors – teacher approval may be required
  • Change an elective

Schedule changes are not approved for the following reasons:

  • Want to change the order of classes for any reason
  • Request a different teacher
  • Want to be in class(es) with a friend
  • Request will take a student off-track for graduation

Schedule change requests after the first week of school will be considered on a case-by-case basis as needed to address the following:

  • Level change
  • Credit recovery
  • Graduation requirements

Second Semester schedule changes may be approved for students who are:

  • Failing a class
  • Recommended by a teacher for a level change
  • Seniors needing a class in order to graduate
  • Senior with enough credits for a five period day (only 1st or 6th period available)

Requests for schedule changes for any reason not included above must be approved by a site administrator. Please contact your academic counselor with any questions about schedule changes.
