Agriculture Teacher & FFA Advisor

The Arcata High Agriculture Program is led by Kelly Miller and Andrew Pierce. Together we teach three CP Science classes that are the Agriscience Pathway. Additionally, I teach Floral Design and Agriculture Government and Economics. New for fall of 2023 Andrew Pierce will be teaching an Agriculture Mechanics class. Students are encouraged, but not limited to, take their first Ag class as a freshman to ensure four years of Agriculture and the notoriety of being a Program Completer! Entry level classes for any student would be Sustainable Agriculture Biology, Floral Design or Agriculture Mechanics.

Students are members of Arcata FFA. They can join Career Development Teams (CDE) like Forestry, Veterinary Science and Welding. There is also an opportunity for students to participate in speaking contests and numerous leadership conferences. Throughout the year members attend monthly FFA meetings, fundraisers and many activities. There are misconceptions that a student needs to live on a farm or raise animals to take these classes, and that is just not true. We aim to show and teach all students the importance that Agriculture plays in each of our lives. We welcome you to our program!
