~ 2025-2026 Class Schedule~
Bio… Wow, this is my 30th year teaching English at Arcata High School! I have found a deep sense of purpose in helping young people develop and discover their voices and build empathy through reading, writing, and engaging. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed connecting with others and shaping our school culture as a class advisor, debate club advisor, literary and art magazine advisor, mentor teacher, Sources of Strength adult leader, active NHHSTA member, and Department Chair. I truly enjoy both teaching and learning alongside my inspiring colleagues and the remarkable students at AHS. I earned my English degree, teaching credential, and supplementary authorization in art from Humboldt State University.
My Why... One of the things I love most about teaching English is the insight and understanding that emerge from stories, poetry, and meaningful discussions. It’s a joy to witness young people grow as readers, writers, and critical thinkers, and it is a gift to hear their truths and the truths of others, to discover, together, a deeper sense of meaning, connection, and purpose. My goal is to foster a vibrant, engaged community of thoughtful learners who evolve through words, ideas, and art.
