About Me
I grew up in the small town of Three Rivers, CA, at the base of Sequoia National Park, spent a bit of time in Los Angeles, where I studied psychology and theatre at Occidental College, and settled in Arcata in 2002. I received my teaching credential in mathematics from HSU in 2004, and began teaching mathematics, drama, and tech theatre that same year, when Six Rivers first opened the doors to the school. As a founding member of Six Rivers Charter High, I have taught many different subjects over the years, but my passion is in mathematics and performing arts. In 2012, I was lucky to join the faculty of the Arcata High School and the Arcata Arts Institute as their theatre instructor and added a Career Technical Education (CTE) credential in Arts, Media, and Entertainment (AME) to my roster. In 2023 I was excited to add Dance and Audio/Video editing to my course offerings at Arcata High School, rounding out my position as a full-time performing arts and CTE instructor. In addition to working within the educational fields of mathematics and the arts, I perform locally with theatre, dance, aerial dance, and spoken word companies, integrating mathematics into my performance arts whenever possible.
