Johanna Mauro
I teach art, digital photography and am the director of the Arcata Arts Institute.
I have been a teacher for over 25 years. I received my undergraduate degree from UC Santa Cruz, with a major in art. I worked as a graphic designer and production manager for Regional Visitor Publications as well as a photographer for the North Coast Journal. After deciding I wanted to be a teacher, I got a credential from HSU in 1998. I immediately started teaching at Arcata High and have been here ever since. I continue to work as a photographer and have shown my photos in many galleries over the years. I was Humboldt County's Teacher of the Year in 2019.
