Hello!
My name is Alyssa Guerrero and I am currently teaching two periods of Technology Essentials at McKinleyville High School, and two sections of Study Skills at Arcata High School. I earned my secondary Biology credential in 2013 through Cal Poly Humboldt, and student taught at both Six Rivers Charter and Arcata High School. From 2014-2021 I taught biology, chemistry, and integrated science for grades 6-12 through the Humboldt County Office of Education. It is a pleasure to be serving Northern Humboldt Union High School District once again. I am currently teaching part-time at the high schools, and part-time for Cal Poly Humboldt as a supervisor for the Secondary Education Program. It is a privilege to be living on unceded Wiyot land.
As a first-generation Filipina-American who lived alone for part of my high school career, I have experienced firsthand the inequities threaded into the fabric of our larger education system. I believe that quality education is a fundamental right for every human being, so equity is at the core of why I find the life of teaching and empowering all students so rewarding. While I am a science teacher by trade, I am a teacher at heart, and it is a privilege to serve students in any capacity.
Outside of supporting our youth, I enjoy exploring pottery, gardening, and spending any opportunity I have to be outdoors.
It is an honor to be a Tiger once again.
