Bio

I am the new woodshop teacher at Arcata High.  I bring to the program over 30 years of experience in the industry.  I was trained by my uncle with a classic apprenticeship in Massachusetts when I was 19.  My uncle is both a master craftsman and tenured professor at Rhode Island School of Design, so I learned from one of the best! After working with my uncle for about 4 years and earning my bachelor's degree from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA, I moved to the west coast.  I've since worked for commercial cabinet shops, earned my multiple subject teaching credential, run my own furniture business, and taught woodshop at HSU.  I'm currently clearing my CTE credential.  I bring skills as an educator, craftsman, and business owner to the position.  I am very excited to introduce each of your students to the joy of woodworking!
